A whopping 8.8 earthquake hit off the coast of Chile this morning and major shocks even hit Santiago even though the city is 200 miles away from the epicenter.
A tsunami is on it's way as well, how big it will be is anyone's guess.
Our prayers are with the people of Chile and all who may be affected by the expected tsunami.
The Letra del Aņo from Cuba (Organizing Commission) for this year is Baba Eyiogbe which warns of maremotos (Sea based quakes such as the one in Chile) and tsunamis. The last time Baba Eyiogbe was the Letter for the Year was 2004, when the huge tsunami hit the Indian Ocean. But that was in December of the year. It looks like Baba Eyiogbe is hitting hard and fast this year.

At least 147 are dead so far, an astoundingly low number for a quake this size (100s of times bigger than Haiti's quake), but Chile is much better prepared for big quakes than most countries.

Iboru, iboya, Ibochiche Oluwo:
Its up to 800 deaths so far today, and yes, you are right, its really always frightening when Obatala rules, even the weather in the Northeast has Obatala written all over it..
I pray for mercy for those that have lost so much as well.
